Timothy Lee named Postdoctoral Scholar for the St. Andrew and St. Joseph Bays Estuary Program

PANAMA CITY — The St. Andrew and St. Joseph Bays Estuary Program has named Dr. Timothy Lee as the new Postdoctoral Scholar. Dr. Lee began his role as post-doctoral scholar on July 1, 2024.

“The Estuary Program excited to have Dr. Timothy Lee on board as our first post-doctoral scholar,” said Jessica Graham, PhD, executive director of St. Andrew and St. Joseph Bay Estuary Program. “His experience in the estuarine environment, evaluations of restoration projects, and statistical analysis all with a focus on conservation will be instrumental to our Program and partners.”

The Estuary Program, a partnership encompassing multiple sectors across the entire St. Andrew Watershed, is hosted by FSU PC. An initial establishment has been funded by The Nature Conservancy and Bay County and is currently funded from competitively secured grants.

Lee earned his B.A. in Environmental Sciences at the University of California at Berkeley, his M.S. in Environmental Science from Oregon State University as well as a Masters of Marine Affairs at the University of Washington, and his Ph.D in Biology from East Carolina University. Lee’s educational journey has provided him the opportunities to gain diverse research experiences from around the world. “Dr. Timothy Lee comes to the St. Andrew and St. Joseph Bays Estuary Program with experience ranging from exploring patterns across broad geographies to investigations of invasive species and prevalence of parasites and their impact to the food web coupled with a strong interest and background in mentoring undergraduate students,” Graham said. Lee just finished up a one year post-doctoral position at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro researching on food chain lengths in riverine habitats before joining the Estuary Program staff at Florida State University Panama City.
