Liz Farmer Research Technician

Liz Farmer

Since November 2023, Liz Farmer has been the research technician for the St. Andrew & St. Joseph Bays Estuary Program, working on the CSTARS grant to monitor living shorelines in St. Andrew Bay, Choctawhatchee Bay, and Pensacola Bay. She brings experience in field work from her positions as a Shorebird Biologist with Florida Audubon and a Stream Monitoring Technician with The Great Basin Institute. Liz earned her bachelor’s degree in environmental research science, with a focus on soil science, from the University of Georgia. She is originally from the Atlanta area but has lived in Bay County since 2023 and enjoys the beach, hiking and travelling whenever she can!

In addition to her field role, Liz volunteers as the Estuary Program’s Volunteer Coordinator because she believes public service strengthens communities. She’s served on trail crews with Rocky Mountain Youth Corps, led habitat restoration work with Nevada Conservation Corps, and monitored sea turtles in the Everglades for the National Park Service.
