Dr. Ryann Rossi Estuary Scientist

Dr. Ryann Rossi is the Estuary Scientist for the St. Andrew and St. Joseph Bays Estuary Program (SASJBEP), where she leads efforts in ecosystem monitoring, data analysis, and community collaboration to support the program’s goals. With a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from North Carolina State University and a B.S. in Marine Biology from the University of Rhode Island, Ryann brings extensive expertise in wetland ecology, ecosystem services, and applied coastal science.
Her research has taken her across the East and Gulf coasts and the Caribbean, studying issues ranging from mangrove die-offs to ecosystem service modeling. She has held postdoctoral roles with Louisiana Universities Marine Consortium and the EPA, focusing on long-term impacts of environmental stressors and restoration outcomes.
Ryann also brings experience in outreach and education, having developed citizen science programs, mentored students at all levels, and led hands-on workshops in the U.S. and The Bahamas. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family and dog, running, and exploring the natural beauty of the watershed.
